How many teams are there at Blaine High School?

Blaine High School offers 4 levels of Soccer, below is a brief description of each level.

How are the teams chosen?

All players are evaluated by all coaches over a three day period and then are placed on teams as follows:

  1. Varsity - Top 16-22 highest skilled players regardless of Grade

  2. JV - Next 16-22 highest skilled players regardless of Grade

  3. B-Squad - Next 16-22 players regardless of Grade

  4. 9th Grade A - Top Ranked 16-22 9th Graders that do not make a team above.

    • If we need 8th Grade players they will be limited to playing on ONLY the 9th Grade Team.

    • If a 9th Grade player is asked to play on a higher team they become intelligible to participate on the 9th grade team.

What if I can't attend Tryouts:

We can NOT hold spots for players that are not at tryouts. Our tryouts are scheduled a year in advance for all to see.

Our plan is to give ALL players 3 days of tryouts and inform them whether or not they made a team by the 1st Wednesday. Sometimes this process will take longer and may go until the 2nd Monday.

If our teams are not full we will allow players who miss tryouts to get signed up, pay the fee, and participate in a 1 day tryout with their grade level coach. The coach of that team will evaluate him and let him know if he will stay on that team, move up, or be cut.

All players must complete five full practices before they can play in their first game.

There will be no exceptions to this policy.

Equipment

If a student is removed or quits the team it is their responsibility to turn in any equipment that they may still have in their possession. Failure to do so will result in fines being assessed to the student. You are expected to turn in the entire uniform and any other equipment on the scheduled day and time.

ALL ITEMS must be CLEAN or you will be assessed a $25.00 cleaning fee.

Expectations

Sportsmanship is very important at Blaine High School and throughout the Northwest Suburban Conference. We will always expect high levels of sportsmanship form all of our athletes coaches and fans. We expect all students to represent themselves, our school and their families with class and dignity.

FUNDRAISING

The way we will raise money this year are below along with how they work.

  1. Community Deal Card - Sell 20 cards for $20.00 each

  2. Online Fundraiser - 20 Contacts

  3. Butter Braid Bread - Sell 10

  4. Work as officials at Blaine Soccer Club Recreation program

  5. Golf Cart Driver during the USA Cup (Must be 16 and have a valid license.) Not happening this year.

If we all do our best we will meet or exceed our goal!

Guilt by Association

If you attend any function in which alcohol or drugs are being consumed it is your responsibility to leave immediately. Leaving immediately is defined as leaving within 15 minutes upon arriving. Failing to leave immediately will put you at risk of being in violation of Minnesota State High School League Bylaw 206. This is the "guilt by association" rule that the Anoka-Hennepin School Board has adopted and implemented. Anoka-Hennepin has taken a strong stand against Mood Altering Chemicals; the district's policy is more stringent than the Minnesota State High School League's policy.

Harassment/Bullying

This is not tolerated in any activity. The same school rules apply. If you are being harassed or bullied, please notify a coach as soon as it occurs so the appropriate action can be taken. If a student is found to be harassing or bullying another they will receive consequences according to school rules and will be serving a penalty under Minnesota State High School League bylaw 206. This includes ALL Social Media!

Participation

Students involved in our extra-curricular programs are reminded that participation is a privilege, not a right. Suspension or termination of the participation privilege is within the sole discretion of the school administration.

Ten Day Refund Policy

Participants of an activity have 10 scheduled practice days from the 1st date of an activity's start date, (or the participant's sign-up date if later than start date) to resign from the activity and receive a refund of their activity fee. After 10 days a student will not receive a refund.
